Container
The container configuration (the container-config.json) must be configured at container level.
The Docker Hub Registry does not support this.
Description.
The server has container-config.json files that define which volumes are accessible to the container, as well as the docker daemon that they point to. This ensures that the volumes are set up correctly for the containers to use them, and that the container is using the right server to fetch them.
Every container configuration has the id:name format of id:volumes:ref, where id is the name of the container-config.json (in the case of non-S3 images, it's the name on Docker Hub), volumes is a comma-separated list of volume specification, and ref is a path within the host's filesystem that the server uses to find the content of the volume.
The server supports six different volume types:
DevRoot: a rootfs volume where the docker daemon can store intermediate images, volume data, and other data that does not need to be shared across multiple containers. This volume type must be defined in container-config.json and must be mounted to /var/lib/docker/devicemapper (or other location if specified) and should be configured with the cache-dir=true flag.
S3: the volume type where the docker daemon can store intermediate images, volume data, and other data that does not need to be shared across multiple containers. This volume type must be defined in container-config.json and must be mounted to an S3 location.
NFS: the volume type where the docker daemon can store intermediate images, volume data, and other data that does not need to be shared across multiple containers. This volume type must be defined in container-config.json and must be mounted to an NFS location.
GitHub: the volume type where the docker daemon can store intermediate images, volume data, and other data that does not need to be shared across multiple containers. This volume type must be defined in container-config.json and must be mounted to a GitHub location.
Swarm: the volume type where the docker daemon can store intermediate images, volume data, and other data that does not need to be shared across multiple containers. This volume type must be defined in container-config.json and must be mounted to a Swarm location.
